Group itinerary

Arrive into the capital city, where a private transfer will be waiting to take you to your boutique hotel in comfort.

In the evening, meet your fellow travelers over a traditional welcome dinner, easing into the local culture and setting the tone for the adventure ahead.

Begin with a visit to a local organic cacao farm, where you’ll learn about the chocolate-making process from bean to bar and enjoy a few rich tastings along the way.

Then, set off on an exciting river rafting journey through lively rapids, leading you deep into the rainforest to a secluded riverside lodge where you’ll spend the next couple of nights surrounded by nature.

As night falls, head out on a guided jungle walk with a torch in hand, discovering the rainforest after dark and spotting nocturnal wildlife in an atmosphere that’s both thrilling and unforgettable.

Wake up to the sounds of the rainforest birds calling and monkeys moving through the trees as you settle into a true escape from the outside world, free from WiFi and everyday distractions.

Spend the day at your own pace, enjoying the lodge and joining optional included activities. For a bit of adventure, try the iconic swing or take a scenic hike to a nearby waterfall, where you can cool off in a refreshing natural pool surrounded by jungle.

Retrace your path back toward civilization, paddling down the river while enjoying the excitement of rapids and a scenic picnic lunch along the way.

Afterwards, transfer by minibus to the Arenal Volcano area, a region renowned for its dramatic volcanic landscapes and natural hot springs, where your comfortable hotel and the next stage of your adventure await.

Start your morning relaxing at your hotel before heading out for a thrilling half-day canyoning excursion, where you’ll rappel down waterfalls, scramble along cliffs, and take the plunge into natural pools.

In the evening, step inside a local home to experience authentic Costa Rican hospitality, sharing a homemade traditional meal with your group and connecting with local culture firsthand.

Spend the day exploring at your own pace with a range of optional activities. Whether you’re drawn to wildlife spotting, volcano hikes, horseback rides, or adrenaline-filled adventures like ziplining and ATV tours, there’s something for every type of traveler. Check in with your Soca Islands host for recommendations and hidden gems.

Head to a stunning national park of marshes and mangroves for a guided boat ride, spotting native wildlife including birds, crocodiles, and monkeys along the way.

Continue to a traditional sugar mill to learn the craft of rum-making from start to finish, followed by a tasting session with your group.

Finish the day at a boutique lodge on the Gulf, set among pristine beaches and lush tropical forest, with a special surprise waiting to cap off the evening.

Spend your final day sailing on a private catamaran, exploring hidden coves, small islands, and vibrant snorkelling spots, with a fresh lunch served onboard.

In the evening, gather with your group for a farewell dinner, celebrating the journey and toasting to the memories made under the starry tropical sky.

Your adventure comes to an end as you make your way to the airport, with your Soca Island tour guide available to assist in arranging your transfer.

As you say goodbye to your fellow travelers, take a moment to reflect on everything you’ve experienced from thrilling adventures to unforgettable sights and cultural encounters. While daily life back home may not quite match the excitement of rainforest hikes, river rapids, and island escapes, the memories and sense of achievement you bring back will last a lifetime and set the stage for your next adventure.

Tour FAQS

Fly into San José Airport (SJO) and fly out of Liberia Airport (LIR).

Yes. If you arrive on Day 1 of your adventure or book pre-tour accommodation with us, your airport arrival transfer is included. If you choose alternative pre-tour accommodation or arrive by another mode of transport, you’ll need to arrange your own arrival transfer.

Our arrival transfers are private to Soca Islands and are organised in groups based on flight times. Sometimes this means a short wait at the airport until other flights arrive.

These adjustments could happen with little notice due to factors like availability, weather conditions, seasonal shifts, or other circumstances beyond our control. Rest assured, we always aim to minimise any impact on your experience. Occasionally, we may tweak the itinerary to try out fresh ideas and keep the adventure exciting.

We believe solo travelers shouldn’t have to pay extra to explore the world. That’s why our group trips are designed around shared accommodation and do not include a single supplement. Solo travelers joining our group trips are paired in twin or multi-share rooms with another traveler of the same sex for the duration of the trip.

Some of our Independent trips are structured differently. For these itineraries, solo travelers will need to book at the single occupancy rate.
